Easter's History tuk b clear dak...?

The Christian festival of Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The spring festival has its roots in the Jewish Passover, which commemorates Israel's deliverance from the bondage of Egypt, and in the Christian reinterpretation of its meaning after the crucifixion of Jesus during the Passover of AD c.30 and the proclamation of his resurrection three days later.

Early Christians observed Easter on the same day as Passover (14-15 Nisan, a date governed by a lunar calendar). In the 2d century, the Christian celebration was transferred to the Sunday following the 14-15 Nisan, if that day fell on a weekday. Originally, the Christian Easter was a unitive celebration, but in the 4th century Good Friday became a separate commemoration of the death of Christ, and Easter was thereafter devoted exclusively to the resurrection. According to the Venerable Bede, the name Easter is derived from the pagan spring festival of the Anglo- Saxon goddess Eostre, and many folk customs associated with Easter (for example, Easter eggs) are of pagan origin.

Easter Day is currently determined as the first Sunday after the full moon on or after March 21. The Eastern Orthodox churches, however, follow the Julian rather than the Gregorian calendar, so their celebration usually falls several weeks later than the Western Easter. Easter is preceded by the period of preparation called Lent.

Saint patricks day is one of Irish culture event,,,it should be celebrate on 17 march, but somehow here in menchester they celebrate awal plak tahun ni,,,which is 6 days earler /

St. Patrick: fact and fantasy
- St. Patrick is supposed to have driven the snakes out of Ireland. Certainly, there are no snakes in Ireland — but there are none in New Zealand either and St. Patrick never visited there. The story that St. Patrick banished the snakes is more likely to have been invented in the 12th century by a Northumbrian monk named Jocelyn.

- The earliest recorded evidence of St. Patrick’s Day being celebrated outside of Ireland, other than by Irish soldiers, is provided by Dublin-born Gulliver’s Travels author Jonathan Swift. In his Journal to Stella he notes that in 1713 the Westminster Parliament was closed for St. Patrick’s Day and the Mall in London was so full of decorations he thought “all the world was Irish”.

- St. Patrick’s Day is also a public holiday on the Caribbean island of Monsterrat. The origins of the island’s celebrations date back to the 17th century when Oliver Cromwell was instrumental in forcing quite a number of Irish immigrants to move there. Names like Murphy, Kirwan and O’Malley are still commonplace on the island.

- The Shamrock predates the red poppy of Flanders fields as a sign of remembrance. In 1900 Britain’s Queen Victoria ordered that soldiers in Irish regiments should wear shamrocks on St. Patrick’s Day in memory of fellow Irishmen who had been killed in the Boer War.

OLD TRAFFORD
WELCOME TO OLD TRAFFORD
THE ULTIMATE FOOTBALLING STAGE
Old Trafford is the ultimate football stadium. Given the nickname ‘The Theatre of Dreams’ by Sir Bobby Charlton, it has played host to some of the best players, teams and football contests for almost 100 years.
It became Manchester United’s home in 1910, but suffered extensive damage when it was bombed during World War II in 1941. The Reds relocated to Manchester City’s Maine Road stadium until the rebuilding of Old Trafford was completed in 1949.
The stadium, the largest club ground in Britain, is one of the finest in the world. An incredible 1,705,696 fans watched United play at Old Trafford in season 2005/06. Since work on the expansion of the stadium’s North-west and North-east quadrants was completed in summer 2006, Old Trafford’s capacity has reached in excess of 76,000,

DUGOUT
THE VIEW FROM THE BENCH
The original entrance to the Old Trafford turf saw the players emerge underneath the centre of the South Stand. Old Trafford’s old tunnel – which was used until 1993 – is the only remaining part of the original stadium, having survived the World War Two bombing which flattened the rest of the ground.
The current elevated ‘dugout’ area, in the centre of the South Stand, provides a prime vantage point for Sir Alex Ferguson and his team, within touching distance of the touchline and all the action.
The dugout area features seats for the substitutes and backroom team and also has under-floor heating to keep the players warm on cold Manchester nights.

DRESSING ROOM & PLAYER’S LOUNGE
THE INNER SANCTUM
So many legends have made the dressing room space their own. The players enter the tunnel before turning left to reach the new changing rooms.
The new dressing rooms were opened in 1993 to replace those underneath the South Stand. Able to accommodate 22 players, the home dressing room contains a spa pool, two small baths, six showers and video facilities.
Opposite the dressing room is the Players’ Lounge, a room the players visit after their pre-match meal and again after the match. Here they can relax before the game. One wall features an impressive honours board showing every player to have won an international cap while playing for United. Photos of previous United captains also adorn the walls
.

PLAYER’S TUNNEL

ANTICIPATION... EXHILARATION... LET THE ACTION BEGIN
The roar of the crowd as you edge closer to the pitch, the tunnel is where it hits you – you’re about to play for the Reds at Old Trafford. "When you walk towards the pitch you’re really focused,” says Reds skipper Gary Neville.
“The adrenaline is flowing and there’s a real buzz.”
The teams have been running out of this tunnel since 1993. Before that they used the old players’ tunnel, situated between the home and away dug-outs. At the front is an extendable cover, which protects the players as they enter the pitch. Inside the managers and players conduct their post-match interviews.
The roof of the tunnel can be hydraulically lifted as high as 25 feet to allow large vehicles through the tunnel area.

THE MUSEUM
AN EXPERIENCE THAT TAKES YOU TO THE HEART OF THE CLUB
Welcome to the Manchester United Museum and Tour Centre, an in-depth and interactive guide to the history of the club.
Like United, the museum has grown from modest origins since it was opened in the South-east quadrant of Old Trafford in 1986. It has since become one of the region’s leading tourist attractions. The new Museum and Tour Centre, situated in the North Stand, was opened by the legendary Pele on 11 April 1998.
Split over three floors, the museum covers every detail of United’s history, including the an array of trophies, from youth team silverware won by the Busby Babes to bigger prizes like the European Cup.
You can also reflect on the tragedy of the Munich air disaster, marvel at United’s greatest players and relive the drama of the 1998-99 Treble season.

OPENING TIMES
DEVOTED TO FOOTBALL
The expanded East Stand of Old Trafford isn't just about seats.
There are a whole host of new offices, as well as a fantastic new Megastore.
From shirts to scarves, mugs to mousemats, everything you could possibly want from United is here. When they say, "If we don't sell it, they don't make it," they really mean it.
Spread over 17,000 square feet, the Megastore is the biggest shop devoted to football you're likely to find. TV screens show the lads in action, while the latest music pumps out of the stereo system.
With 25 computerised tills in constant action, you don't need to worry about queues, either. There's no excuse to be late for the game.
The new East Stand Megastore is open for business at the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 09:00 - 17:30
Thursday: 09:30 - 17:30
Friday, Saturday: 09:00 - 17:30
Sunday: 10:30 - 16:30
Matchdays: Please call 0161 868 8000 for opening hours
